One of the several salient features of Windows 7 is Device Management, which includes device stage and the devices and printer folder making it easier for a user to work with printers, cameras, phones, and music players.

The tool acts as a location for external devices that updates you with the device status information. Device Stage acts as a home page for your hardware in Windows 7. In earlier versions, you need to go to separate menus, but in Windows 7 this advanced feature will pop up all the functions of the device.

The user can also have a look at everything connected to the PC with Devices and Printers folder. Now you don’t have to worry about downloading the drivers as the drivers of the new devices will be downloaded automatically.

In Windows 7, default printing adjusts itself depending upon the connected network. If you are at home or work it gets aware of the location from where you are printing with Location aware printing feature. It also provides support for wireless alternatives to USB such as Ultra Wideband (UWB), Wireless USB (WUSB), Wireless Host Controller Interface (WHCI), Device Wire Adapter (DWA).

Moreover, it supports devices such as ambient light sensor, GPS, temperature gauge, etc. You can also enlarge the text display when using high resolutions . The tool provides improved support for external displays. You can easily toggle between the laptop screen and an external display by simply pressing +P key.

If you want to add a new device it can easily be done with Devices and printers as it also provide the place to add a new networked or wireless device and also to troubleshoot problems with it. It also provide Blue-ray Disc write support and standardizes the Display color as it helps in adjusting an LCD display to be as close as possible to the sRGB standard color space. The user can expect simpler device pairing, better security and better power savings.

Microsoft’s Windows 7 release will be a boon for users as now they will be allowed to change the picture that appears on the Start Menu and Welcome screen in Windows 7.

While using Windows 7 you must have noticed a picture that appears when you click the Start menu or access the Welcome screen.  A picture represents your account. You can replace this default picture with your favorite one.

You can follow these steps to perform this task. Click the Start button and then click on your account image to open the "User Accounts" Control Panel. When the "User Accounts" Control Panel opens, click "Change your picture" and then choose the one you like from the gallery and set as a default picture for your account.

After that you will have to click the "Change Picture" button, and then close the "User Accounts" Control Panel.

Taking up another issue, you can use setup to show the computer name on your Windows 7 taskbar.

You usually check computer name manually by right-clicking on My Computer and choosing Properties. But in Windows 7 release you can display it on Taskbar.

You just have to create a new folder in Document folder with the same name as your computer name. You can find your computer name by right-clicking on My Computer and choosing Properties. Right-click on an empty area in the taskbar and choose Toolbars, then click on New Toolbar. Now you want to browse to the location of the folder you just created. Choose that folder and click the Select Folder button.

Thats all. Now your computer name will appear on the Windows 7 taskbar.

Another Windows 7 update is that you can also get an effective package from Dr. Web CuireIt against all virus and spyware in Windows 7

When you update your system with Windows 7, then you need a comprehensive package because your existing antivirus will lose the compatibility.

Dr. Web comes with a most efficient Anti-Virus called Dr. Web CuireIt. Its extensive scanner and virus will scan the complete system even without installation. You can get it from the website link http://www.freedrweb.com, absolutely free. You can combine this package with Windows 7 install package. First, open the website with the above link. Press the button of "Download." Save the file on your desktop. Double click on the file and run the set up. Follow the prompt and at the end accept the Agreement form. Click on "Finish" after the process is complete.

You can run this program anytime, to scan your startup files and main memory. Depending upon the area you want to scan you can run this program under complete scan or custom scan. Press "Scanning" after selecting. After scanning the incurable files are moved to the quarantine directory.

A hard drive is an essential piece of hardware for every computer, it actual name is Hard Disk Drive (HDD), other more common names are hard disk and fixed disk. A hard drive is a non-volatile data storage device; using two rotating disks, known as platters, that have magnetic surfaces, the hard drive digitally stores encoded data. While modern day Hard drives are a completely sealed unit (aside from the ventilation hole), the original hard drives had removable media. The term "Hard" was meant to be a substitute, temporary slang, for the term "rigid" before a universal name had been agreed upon. A rigid-disk drive is a hard drive essentially, but that name is rarely used.

Hard Drives were first introduced for data storage in an accounting computer in 1956 and were developed for general purpose computers. Non-volatile storage means that unlike RAM, which is volatile memory, the information will not be deleted when the computer is powered off. The hard drive is where firmware and program files, along with other types of information, are stored so it can be accessed at any time.

The data is stored in the computer language known as binary code; information is recorded as a series of zeros and ones and is retrieved by detecting the magnetized material. Covered in a thin layer of magnetic material, the platters themselves are non-magnetic usually made of aluminum or glass. Earlier hard drives used iron oxide for the magnetic material, but now a cobalt-based alloy is used.

A typical hard drive for a desktop computer holds somewhere between 120 and 500 GB of digital data, rotate at 7200 RPM (Rotations Per Minute) and transfers 1 Gbit per second. As of July 2008 the largest capacity of a hard drive became 1.5 TB, with an RPM of 10 thousand or 15 thousand and has a transfer rate of 1.6 Gbit per second. Hard drives with RPMs of at least 10 thousand are the gamers' choice for their computers because of the high data transfer rate, which cuts down on the game start up time and decreases game loading time.

Modern day hard drives cover a variety of digital applications, such as video recorders, audio players, personal assistants, cameras and video games consoles. Samsung and Nokia added hard drives to their phones for the first time in 2005 and revolutionized the market. The size of the hard drive stays the same, but the amount of data that can be stored upon them is ever increasing because of data compression research. The original hard disk drive held 4.4 megabytes (MB) of digital data as compared to the newest hard drive today that can hold up to the 3 terabytes (TB) of digital data. (1 thousand bytes = 1 MB; 1 thousand MB = 1 gigabyte (GB); 1 thousand GB = 1 TB) The 3 TB hard drives are not yet available for public purchase but the 2 TB external hard drives are, and they sell for a minimum of $454.

A “Redundant Array of Independent Drives” is a admired procedure today for people operational with several hard drives at once. RAID is a data storage system which divides or replicates data between the hard drives used, and is thus proficient of offering higher data consistency and shorter response period than other schemes.

This method has been in use for a number of times in applications that are considered non-critical. The reason for the use of the scheme within non-critical elements of a business is that unhappily, when one drive in a RAID system fails all of the data stored on the entire array may also be corrupted, or simply rendered inaccessible.

For a business without knowledgeable support, this can be devastating. The first challenge to any recovery effort will be the reinstatement of data on not just one, but all of the drives involved in the system. The higher the level, the more complex the data recovery process becomes. Each piece of data on each drive is important, and a recovery system that ensures complete recovery is key. When it comes to the actual recovery process, the person using a RAID scheme has a few options.

Someone trained in the implementation of RAID and its applications could recover the data from the drive, as long as the data required is on the drive involved at the time of the failure. Odds are the user will have to call for help; that means two choices. First of all, you could contact the manufacturer’s support department. It is likely that they will be able to get your system up and running again, but like many support systems the recovery of your data is only a secondary objective.

Basically, the manufacturer will assume that you have backed up your important data in a suitable fashion and the support staffs are trained to operate under this assumption. The manufacturer cannot be expected to take responsibility for your data stored on its product. The second option, and the best one open to the user, is to call in the services of a company that is trained in all manner of data recovery methods, and specifically one that has experience with all the levels of RAID storage. This service can be hard to find, since recovery issues and systems requirements are quite specific, but there are times when it pays to seek out the experts.

RAID schemes may be more reliable when it comes to data management, but in the event of a failure the challenges loom large. Getting the data from each system involved and ensuring that data recovery are at the heart of a support system are two of the most critical issues that a user of a RAID system will face in a failure, and it’s important to find individuals who can handle the challenge.

Losing data due to a failed or failing hard drive can be a frustrating experience. Many times you can recover this lost data with utilities built right into Windows. This article will show you how to data backup and recover this data and to prevent data loss in the future.

# Step 1 : Boot from your Windows CD/DVD. Insert your Windows CD/DVD in your PC and select boot from CD.

# Step 2 : Select R for Recovery Console. When Windows setup is finished loading enter the Recovery Console. Here you will be asked to select the copy of Windows to log in to and for the administrator password. After this information is entered you will be given a command prompt.

# Step 3 : Enter "chkdsk /r" and press ENTER. At the command prompt type "chkdsk /r" and press ENTER. This will run the check disk utility. The "/r" option tells check disk to recover any readable information from the bad sectors.

# Step 4 : Type "exit" and press ENTER. After check disk is finished running it will give you a report on it's progress. You should see that check disk found some bad sectors or errors and repaired them. Type "exit" and press ENTER this will reboot your PC.

# Step 5 : Boot into Windows normally. Allow Windows to load normally and you should be able to log in ok. You should see that any errors related to the bad sectors on your hard drive are now resolved.

# Step 6 : Backup your data. Having a current backup of your data makes a failed hard drive far less serious. Hard drives are cheap but your data is priceless. Backup your data to an external hard drive or DVD and keep it in a safe place. You may even choose to use disk imagining software to create an entire copy of your hard drive.

Nowadays computers are practically more dependable more than ever. However, computers do go bad.  In particular the computer's disk drive will go bad at a lesser percentage than other peripherals. When they do go bad, they warn you well beforehand on forthcoming failures with the newly adopted SMART monitoring.

Advanced hard disks possess bigger computer storage capacities than their predecessors. Keeping the same physical size, they have a much higher storage density, leaving storing additional data file on the same space of their surface. And therefore the bad issue: if your disk drive dies, you have a great deal to lose. Much to a higher degree you would just a few years ago, with much lower opportunities to acquire your information back without precision tools and clean labs.

Although there's little you are able to do about a physically destroyed hard drive other than sending the damage drive to a devoted data recovery company, there's still probability if hard drive failure didn't make it stop spinning. Even if your hard drive is not readable from Windows you can still recovery the failed drive with committed data recovery tools such as Remote Data Backups.

Remote Data Backup  is used by numerous non-professionals and professionals that can often recover damaged partitions and reconstruct the hard disk to its original status. Is it fail-safe to employ the same drive after it went bad once? This depends on the reason of the failure. If information corruption came about because of a computer failure or a power lost, your computer hard drive is probably not affected and should be used without a problem. If a poorly composed application program caused system unbalance and information corruption, it's not your drive's fault, and you should not be worried more or less about its dependability.

If, all the same, the instability was made by the hard disk failure, use utmost care. Have a look at the hard drive's SMART logs accessible from Windows Administrative Tools, save your data onto another disk and put back the defective one. And remember, even if your hard drive is totally inaccessible, you still have a high percentage of acquiring your data back with Remote Data Backup service.

In today's fast paced and around the clock business world, to be competitive and ensure your business runs smoothly and successfully, you must be on top of things at all times. Since most businesses these days rely heavily on technology to get that done, then it is absolutely vital that the data, networks, and systems that comprise a business's IT infrastructure are safe, sound, and in good working order at all times, even during a disaster.

That's where continuous data backup solution and protection comes in. With continuous data protection, you ensure that your backup data is always up to date, no matter what day of the week it is or even what time of day it is. Continuous data protection is also sometimes called "continuous backup" or "real-time backup." It refers to a computer automatically saving a backup copy of every change made to the data. It essentially saves a copy of every single version of the data that the user saves, which allows the user or the network administrator to restore data to any point in time. For example, if the computer catches a virus and it wipes the hard drive clean, the user or network administrator can get the backup file from a moment before the disaster struck, essentially rendering the data loss and damage nearly or even completely null.

Continuous data protection is different from traditional backup methods because traditional backup methods require a set schedule. With a traditional backup method, you can only restore up to certain restore points, because backups are only made periodically, rather than every time a new version of the data is created. With continuous data protection, you can restore up to any point in time because when new data is written to the disk, it is also written at the same time to another, second location.

While other more traditional backup methods, like mirroring or replication, cause problems in that if data is corrupted, then the system just ends up protecting that corrupted data because they only save the most recent version, continuous data protection will allow you to restore to a previous, uncorrupted point without much difficulty. While that may mean you suffer some data loss, it is likely going to be much less of a problem than only being left with a pile of corrupted data.

Lost data can have a major impact on your business, causing extended downtime that you can't afford and maybe resulting in effects that you can't recover from. If you have data that changes often and you have a lot of it, then continuous data protection software and services are an investment you should seriously look into making. If disaster should strike, you will have the means and ability to recover from it quickly and easily. A system that makes use of continuous data protection offers you data recovery in a matter of minutes or even seconds, as opposed to the more traditional methods, making it the ideal solution for today's busy and fast paced business world when time is always of the essence.

Software vendors are backup utilities that have software and server space to store files. Is guaranteed to restore all the files without data loss.
